Wolfe Room
Located on the second floor, our ‘Wolfe’ Room is spacious and light-filled. Featuring a King bed, an elegant sitting area with both a Victorian armchair and a Regency-style chair, settee and coffee table, decorative fireplace, marble-topped dresser, antique rosewood vanity with walnut accents.
Wolfe Room is named after Major-General James Wolfe, commander of the British expedition that took Ft. Louisbourg and Quebec in 1759. J.W.F. DesBarres accompanied Wolfe at the battle on the Plains of Abraham. DesBarres contributed to the survey of the St. Lawrence and the military plan for the engagement. It is reported that Wolfe gave DesBarres his pocket watch as he died and that it hung in the Manor for many years.

Williams Room
Splendid in its details, the Williams Room sets the stage for romance with a King-sized bed, electric fireplace and an oversized, two-person soaker tub. This Premier Room’s gleaming oak hardwood floors, cozy winged back chairs, Persian carpet and antique cherrywood bonnet chest exemplify the Manor’s commitment to quiet luxury. An antique Queen Anne style drop-leaf secretary desk overlooks the Manor grounds, the perfect spot to write letters home of your Chedabucto Bay adventures or your memoirs of a life lived well.
Located on the second floor, the Williams Room is named after Martha Williams, the second wife of J.W.F. DesBarres. It also happens to be the surname of Owner and Proprietor Glynn Williams.

Cook Room
Our spacious Cook Room features a gorgeous pineapple four-poster Queen bed for a relaxing evening. Unwind within your sitting area in your velvet loveseat or two antique tapestry chairs, to chat or share a bottle of Nova Scotia Sparkling Wine. Greet the morning at your antique leather topped coffee table as you sip your coffee or read a good book.
The Cook Room is named after explorer Captain James Cook who was the first European to visit Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and much of the South Pacific. J.W.F. DesBarres and Cook sounded the St. Lawrence River together in preparation of the siege of Quebec, and also surveyed much of Newfoundland. Claims have been made that DesBarres provided Cook with several insights into the science of surveying and navigation that were to be invaluable to Cook in his later voyages.

Superior Rooms
Sable Room
Sable Room
Our Sable Room, a Superior Room, is also a wonderful retreat on the second storey overlooking the deck and gazebo. Boasting a King bed, a hand-carved dresser circa 1880, Victorian parlour chairs, an antique marble gilded table, antique rocking horse, and a Regency-style desk for corresponding.
Located on the second floor, the Sable Room is named after picturesque Sable Island, which lies off the east coast of Nova Scotia. Following the siege of Quebec, J.W.F. was ordered by the Admiralty to conduct a survey of the Island in 1767. DesBarres spent two years on Sable and had several harrowing experiences. His survey was published in the Atlantic Neptune, which stood for over a century as the authoritative survey of the area.
In 2013, Sable Island was established as a National Park Reserve of Canada

Deluxe Rooms
Tory Room
Located on our 3rd floor, the Tory Room features 2 double beds, a charming sitting area with a Victorian ladies chair and a Victorian Queen Anne style armchair, as well as an oak Victorian dresser.
The Tory Room is named after the Tory family, early Scottish settlers who arrived in Guysborough in 1783. The Tory’s share a long tradition of the pursuit of the law with the DesBarres family and have established a leading and thriving Canadian practice. Members of the Tory family still live and visit Guysborough in the summers, you may just meet one during your stay!

Intervale Room
You’ll be welcomed into a quiet refuge within our Intervale Room. Tucked in among the collection of rooms on the 3rd floor it features a Queen bed, an Arts & Crafts style desk for writing and a matching Regency style mahogany dresser and dressing table.
Our Intervale Room is named after the valley formed by the Milford Haven River that flows into Guysborough Harbour. Early Acadian settlers established productive farms in the area in the early 1600s. This is an excellent fishing area, particularly for brown trout and Atlantic salmon. Hope you brought your fishing gear – or your camera at the very least!

Denys Room
Nestled among the Inn’s third storey dormers, the Denys Room features a Queen Anne ladies writing desk for sending postcards to friends and family. This Room includes a Queen bed and a beautiful Mahogany Regency mirror and nightstand.
Our Denys Room is named after Nicholas Denys, a leading Acadian businessman whose local brewing operation in the mid-1600s is believed by many to have been the first commercial beer-making operation in North America. We are proud to honour this tradition with our collection of handcrafted beer created by our brewing company. During your stay, we hope you will sample and enjoy a craft beer from our collection of Rare Bird Craft Beer – and be sure to visit our Authentic Seacoast Company Distillery and Brewery where it’s all made, for a tour, located just minutes away from the Inn. (Tours are available by appointment with our front desk).

Canso Room
Located on the third floor, the Canso Room is a quiet refuge in the Inn with a sitting area that features a Victorian armchair and rocker, a Queen bed and a serpentine bow front dresser and desk.
The Canso Room honours the citizens of North America’s oldest seaport and the most easterly point of mainland North America. Spectacular white granite formations and coastline make the Canso region a unique place to visit in Guysborough County. Located just down Route 16, Canso is a picturesque fishing community to be explored during your stay.

Argos Room
Nestled among the Inn’s dormers on the third storey, the Argos Room is an intimate retreat. Featuring a Queen bed, a sitting area with a Regency armchair & rocker and a Duncan Fife parlour table, you’ll enjoy resting in this Deluxe Room after your day’s adventures.
The Argos Room is named after Cape Argos, a remarkable red cape that extends into Chedabucto Bay at the eastern passage to the Gut of Canso (Canso Strait). From the top of sea-ravaged cliffs, one achieves beautiful vistas of the Bay, Isle Madam, Cape Breton Island and Canso in the distance.
